Happy 43rd Anniversary UAE

December 2 marks the celebration of 43 years of the UAE. The day celebrates the federal unification of the seven emirates in 1971. This date is celebrated annually and allows the UAE to reflect on past, present and future state of affairs. The date commemorates UAE’s rich heritage, civilization and perseverance in all fields of development with endeavors that include nation-building exertions to build the relations between international communities and the United Arab Emirates.

This is a special day for all UAE residents. The Emirates’ major cities will celebrate National Day, together with Emiratis abroad, especially those employed at Overseas Embassies and Consulates of United Arab Emirates. In North America, for example, a special event is planned at the UAE Embassy in Washington, DC, to celebrate the UAE’s continued growth and progress.

The UAE Embassy will be celebrating the National Day of the United Arab Emirates, as it does every year, with hundreds of invited diplomats, political figures, as well as military dignitaries, and other special guests from the academic and businesses fields to join in the festivities. 

Many will be the celebrating events across the country to mark this special day. In the capital of Abu Dhabi and in other Emirate cities a wide variety of activities has been planned: music performances, a parade (i.e., the Downtown Dubai National Day Parade) and the spectacular fireworks display scheduled to take place at the Burj Al Arab. This is sure to attract visitors ready to take part in the excitement.

In celebration of the country’s 43rd National Day celebrations, in Dubai, there will be 43 UAE flags made of flowering plants in the attempt to set a Guinness World record in the category of largest flag made of flowers. According to Mohammad Abdul Rahman Al Awadi, head of the agriculture section at the municipality, the proposed UAE flag will be created by using 45,660 seedlings of different flowering plants to cover an area of 2,026 square meters.
During this time of National Day celebrations, there will be many shows and performances, including Dubai Culture & Art exhibitions, until December 5 at the Union House, the 29th International Autumn Trade Fair (SMART LIVING), from December 1-3, and the conclusion of the 7EmiratesRun in Dubai on December 2.

To celebrate the 43rd anniversary of formation of the Emirates, several UAE schools will be closed. As well, businesses in both the public and private sector will be closed too on December 2; in fact, the Ministry of Labor has announced it will be a paid holiday.
