Cleveland Cavaliers star James posted 41 points in an ominous
return to the court, albeit in a losing cause as his side were trumped
by the New Orleans Pelicans 119-114.
James said he tried not to think about his niggling injury, as he posted 19 first-quarter points on his way to another standout performance.
"I'm trying not to think about it while I'm out there. Just try to go out and play," James said of his knee.
"Obviously, it's a little sore now, you know, just coming from one game off, but I'm going to continue to do what we need to do to strengthen it and get it back right and make sure I'm OK."
Meanwhile, the injury bug transferred over to the Pelicans - who lost Anthony Davis to a chest contusion midway through the first quarter.
However, Ryan Anderson stepped off the bench to drain eight three-pointers - and the non-starter said his side took on the extra responsibility after the loss of the forward.
"This was a game that we knew that we had to fight extra hard without [Davis]," Anderson said.
"This was a huge win for us so I'm really happy with the way we played."
