Unknown gunmen on Saturday morning assassinated Abdullahi
Mairuwa, the head driver to Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Al-Makura.
The late Mr. Mairuwa, who was in charge of all drivers
attached to Government House, Lafia, was travelling to his home town in
Keana local government area of the state in the company of his wife,
Salamatu, when he was assassinated close to Tudun Adabu along the
Obi-Keana-Awe road around 8.30 a.m. Saturday.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Umar Numan,
confirmed the development, saying detectives have been drafted to the
scene of the incident.
“We are aware and have mobilized to the scene to recover
the corpse and we have already commenced investigation into the
incidence,” Mr. Numan said.
PREMIUM TIMES gathered that Mr. Mairuwa’s killers shot him
at close range in front of his wife and sneaked away through a bush
path.
Family sources told this newspaper that his killers told
his wife not to panic as they were only after her husband before
shooting him twice on the chest.
The remains of the late head driver has been moved to
Keana his home town as sympathizers from Lafia and within continue to
troop to his Lafia residence pay condolence visit.
